Link Safety

TheLinkSpot is committed to keeping the internet safe. As a URL shortening service, we understand the responsibility that comes with redirecting users to other websites. We take active measures to prevent our service from being used for harmful purposes.

What we do to keep links safe

  • URL validation — Every submitted URL is validated before a short link is created. We check that the URL is well-formed and uses a supported protocol (http or https).
  • Abuse monitoring — We actively monitor links for abuse patterns, including spam, phishing, and malware distribution.
  • Community reporting — Anyone can report a suspicious link by emailing hello@thelinkspot.com. Reports are reviewed and acted upon promptly.
  • Link removal — Links that violate our Terms of Service are removed without notice. This includes links to phishing pages, malware, scam sites, and illegal content.
  • No hidden redirects — TheLinkSpot short links redirect directly to the destination URL. We do not chain redirects, insert interstitial pages, or modify the destination in any way.

Prohibited content

The following types of links are strictly prohibited on TheLinkSpot and will be removed immediately:

  • Phishing or credential-harvesting pages
  • Malware, ransomware, or virus distribution
  • Spam or unsolicited commercial content
  • Scam or fraud websites
  • Illegal content of any kind
  • Content that promotes violence, hate, or harassment
  • Links designed to deceive or mislead users about the destination

How to report a link

If you encounter a TheLinkSpot short link that redirects to harmful, misleading, or inappropriate content, please report it immediately. We take every report seriously and investigate within 24 hours.

To report a link:

  1. Copy the TheLinkSpot short link URL (e.g. thelinkspot.com/abc123)
  2. Email it to hello@thelinkspot.com with the subject line "Link Report"
  3. Include a brief description of why the link is harmful
  4. We will review your report and take action within 24 hours

Bio page moderation

Bio pages created on TheLinkSpot are subject to the same content policies as short links. Bio pages that contain links to prohibited content, impersonate other individuals or organisations, or are used for spam will be removed. If you find a bio page that violates these policies, please report it using the same process above.

Tips for staying safe online

  • Be cautious with links from unknown sources, whether shortened or not
  • Check the destination URL before entering any personal information
  • Look for HTTPS in the address bar when visiting websites that ask for sensitive data
  • Keep your browser and antivirus software up to date
  • If something looks too good to be true, it probably is
